What is the difference between FSD and TAD?

None in terms of function: on 9 October 2026 Tesla renamed “Full Self-Driving (Supervised)” to “Tesla Assisted Driving” in Europe. It remains an SAE Level 2 assistance system. More about the renaming.

How can TAD be approved in France?

In two ways: France can recognise the provisional Dutch approval nationally (Art. 39(5) Reg. (EU) 2018/858), or the EU agrees to an EU-wide approval.
