FAQ: TAD in Czechia

Is Tesla Assisted Driving approved in Czechia?

Yes. Czechia recognised the provisional Dutch type approval nationally on 21 Sep 2026. The system (formerly “FSD (Supervised)”) may be used there – the driver remains responsible at all times.

What is the difference between FSD and TAD?

None in terms of function: on 9 October 2026 Tesla renamed “Full Self-Driving (Supervised)” to “Tesla Assisted Driving” in Europe. It remains an SAE Level 2 assistance system. More about the renaming.

How can TAD be approved in Czechia?

In two ways: Czechia can recognise the provisional Dutch approval nationally (Art. 39(5) Reg. (EU) 2018/858), or the EU agrees to an EU-wide approval. EU-wide approval requires a qualified majority in the Technical Committee on Motor Vehicles (TCMV): at least 15 of the 27 countries, together representing at least 65 % of the EU population.
