FAQ: TAD in Denmark

Is Tesla Assisted Driving approved in Denmark?

Yes. Denmark recognised the provisional Dutch type approval nationally on 9 Jun 2026. The system (formerly “FSD (Supervised)”) may be used there – the driver remains responsible at all times.

What is the difference between FSD and TAD?

None in terms of function: on 9 October 2026 Tesla renamed “Full Self-Driving (Supervised)” to “Tesla Assisted Driving” in Europe. It remains an SAE Level 2 assistance system. More about the renaming.

How can TAD be approved in Denmark?

In two ways: Denmark can recognise the provisional Dutch approval nationally (Art. 39(5) Reg. (EU) 2018/858), or the EU agrees to an EU-wide approval. EU-wide approval requires a qualified majority in the Technical Committee on Motor Vehicles (TCMV): at least 15 of the 27 countries, together representing at least 65 % of the EU population.
